With time and technology moving so fast there are always more exciting ways to see the Alps, with some of the latest crazes being dirt scooters and kick bikes for those who don’t fancy a hairy descent on a mountain bike.

More and more people are going about seeing the Alps from a new viewpoint. There is the standard holiday traipse to the top of the mountain, or even the gondola for those who don’t quite have resolve to battle all the way up.

Have you ever thought of seeing the Alps from an aerial perspective? There are now a multitude of ways to get that bird’s eye view of the amazing scenery below. There is something for everyone to enjoy……

Skydiving in the Alps

For the ultimate thrill seekers out there exists a real treat. You’ve heard of sky diving right? A skydive is awesome in its own right but if you add in an equally amazing location, over Mont Blanc and the Chamonix Valley for example, this provides a combination that will be sure to satisfy even the most experienced thrill seeking holiday maker. The jump point being the best part of 5,000m, higher than the peak of Mont Blanc itself. Whilst experiencing the rush of speed and flight, take the opportunity to gaze in awe at one of the most stunning landscapes in Europe. Blink and you will miss the famous Aiguille de Midi. Sky diving in Chamonix is an alpine activity not to miss. The video you take away will make your friends jealous for time to come!

Paragliding in the Alps

For the slightly less brave of us out there, the vast majority of our summer alpine resorts can offer other aerial experiences such as “parapente” known also as paragliding to you and I. Paragliding is a unique way of seeing the Alps from above, its certainly a smoother ride than the aforementioned skydive. A flight of around 20 minutes with all it’s adrenaline pumping manoeuvres takes in all the views and contours of the region, being lucky enough to have experienced this myself I can say I would jump at the opportunity to have another go. Paragliding in Samoëns is a great activity option for your summer mountain holiday. Samoëns is a part of the Grand Massif region, offering slightly different scenery than the more traditional alpine resorts with more sheer faces and blocks of cliffs. A parapenting flight in the Giffre valley is not to be missed.

Hot Air Ballooning in the Alps

Looking for a day out in the air? Look no further. The coolest way to spend your day in the air is undoubtedly in a Hot Air Balloon, there are an abundance of options across the Alps. One of the most iconic mountains in the Alps is the Matterhorn. So a hot air balloon ride in Zermatt might tickle your fancy, taking in the stunning views over Zermatt in Switzerland and the Italian resort of Cervinia. The experience will take a whole day, the flight itself being around 2-4 hours. Beforehand you can watch the balloon being prepped for flight while enjoying a gourmet picnic with a nice glass of bubbly.

Having many luxury summer properties in Zermatt we can help you arrange a day to remember.
